Is it possible to force dbremote 11.0.1.2331 to stay active on error (still
works)? I have 2 hours network breakdowns in night and every morning I need
to restart dbremote service manualy, because I get error Unable to open
connection!. Unable to initialize FTP link.
Thx

This is by design. Without any way to create a connection
there is no chance to do any useful work and it would
otherwise just spin and chew up the CPU resource.

Some people with unreliable networks launch dbremote
from a script and loop around after a short 'sleep' period
and relaunch it again. If running as a Windows service
you can restart the server after a delay of some minute
by adjusting the service's properties.

And the reason for the "sleep" in the script would be...? <g>

In all seriousness and sinceritiness ...

A short pause makes sense since the cause of the
network outage may take some time to resolve
itself and flogging away at a sick animal is just cruel
and all to often counter-productive.

As others have pointed out, there is currently no way to do this. When
SQL Remote can't read or write to the message system, this is considered
a fatal error that caused a shutdown.

Adding a configurable pause to dbremote running in continuous mode when
it losses access to the message system would be a good enhancement for
SQL Remote IMHO. Could you please post this to the
product_futures_discussion forum so it gets a bit more visibility with
our product management group?

Thanks!

Ahhhh... I remember when we had to be kind to computers. It was back
in the mainframe days, one compile per day and another overnight, $35
a minute for CPU time ( which adjusts to about $1T per minute on
current microprocessors :)
