Hi

Using Sybase SQL Anywhere 5.5.05 build #2778

I am trying to reload in a 2gig ascii file back into a database we have.
For some unknown reason I got the error "Disk Full?? Transaction rolled
back"
Looking on the Sybase Service the last message in the window points to a
file called C:\Winnt\system32\_59.aac
I stopped the service and looked for this file but it didn't exist. What I
did notice was a number of other files with .aab extensions. I looked on
Windows NT Enviroment and my Temp settings were set to TEMP=C:\Temp &
TMP=C:\Temp.

Why is Sybase putting this files in my C:\Winnt\System32 directory when my
NT4 Enviroment settings are set to put Temp files in C:\Temp?

Is it also OK to delete any files with the .aab extension ?

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Carl Green

SQL Anywhere creates temporary files in the directory indicated by TEMP, TMP
or TMPDIR environment variable. If none of the variables are not set, the
engine creates temporary files in its executing directory. If the engine
runs as a NT service, the variables must be set as system environment
variable. If not, temporary files will be created in system32 directory. The
engine deletes the temporary files when it is shut down. If the engine is
not cleanly shut down, the temporary files remains undeleted. You can delete
the old temporary files.

As an addendum to Chris's info., you must restart the machine in order for the
system environment variable settings to take effect.
