I have been using ASA 9.02.2451 to install over 100 copies for the last two
years with no problems. Now suddenly in the last two weeks I've had the
same problem in two separate locations.

Error number: 0x80040707
>> Description: Dll function call crashed: DBINST.licenseASAserver

the most recent on a Windows 2003 R2 SP Dell server with 4gb memory. The
install program gets close to the end before erroring, it installs the
program groups in the Start Menu but no individual program icons.

On rebooting, I get "Runtime environment cannot be found; Sybase Central has
not been installed properly."

It was suggested that I apply the latest EBF, but I can't get the program
installed to apply the fix.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm in a jam.

Hi,

could you try to uninstall the product and reinstall it?

Complete uninstallation of version 9 is described on
http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1044109

Kind regards,

Dietrich

The problem is it never gets installed. Both instances are first time
installs.

Hi Bill,

Couple of thoughts:

1) Are you using the exact same download of the software? Could it be that
a recent download is corrupted? Check the MD5?

2) We have had this kind of thing happen in the past, but it kind of
installed 90% of the way and the symptoms are different. But in essense, we
found that because it was a new server (as in new for us to use - but it had
existing stuff on it), we just got the server reinstalled from scratch and
started again. Not sure why the problems existed, but it was easier to just
restart.

Cheers,

Shao
