Version: 15.0.0.2738 EBF8
In a data model, is there a way to manoeuvre relationship
lines so they lock automatically at the elbow to produce
straight lines (like ERwin does)?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Regards,
Peter

If you right-click the line and select Format, in the Line Style tab there
is a "corners" setting. Set it to right angle corners and all the lines
will be straight horizontal/vertical with 90 degree corners.

Is that what you were looking for?

David.

You just need to change the line format. To do this, go to Tools,
Display Preferences, Format-Reference. Click the Modify button. Change
the Corners to hard 90's. Say OK, and the click 'Set As Default'.

That should work.

If you want a straight line then just use Disposition. In ERwin it
collapses the bend as soon as you make it straight, where as in
PowerDesigner it preserves it.

You can click on the line and then do Ctrl-L (vertical straight) or
Ctrl-H (horizontal straight) that is Disposition. This will eradicate
any elbows on the line. You can also get to this via the right-click
menu on a relationship or the Symbol menu.

Thanks, Matt. That's exactly what I need.

I found that once we went to PD 12.5.0.2310 EBF14 (from PD
12.5.0.2169), that the horizontal straight formatting option
would only work when there was just a tiny jog in the line.
This behavior has continued through PD 15.0.0.2729.

The situation I'm describing is only for the two orthogonal
type line styles (true vertical and horizontal segments);
when tried on the "diagonal" or "curvy" line styles, the
line will snap horizontally.

I wonder if you, Peter, or anyone else has seen this type of
behavior, or know of what might be causing it, and/or
possible options.

TIA,
Bill

Bill, I can confirm the behaviour you describe, but I have
no idea as to why. Is this a case of "complexity breeds
fragility"?

Can anyone from Sybase comment on this bug? Matt? David?

On our current version 12.5.0.2198 EBF2 it seems that
Disposition is automatically envoked once you get close to
making the line straight. In 15.0.0.2613 you have to envoke
it with Ctrl L or Ctrl H even if the line appears straight.
Is there a way to automatically envoke this in version 15?
Thanks!

Ctrl-H and Ctrl-L will return to v12.5 level functionality in EBF5 for
PowerDesigner 15.1 due out later this month, or the first of the year.
This means that no matter how large the bend, that the line will
completely flatten or straighten like you expect Bill.

Thank you for your feedback.
