Hi all,

1.) Is it possible to develop PowerBuilder plugin modules?
2.) Is there any API available for this puropse?

Thank you in advance.

I beleive PBNI is what you're after (available since PB9).

Dmitri.

I don't think so. I look for possibility to implement the
module (like library browser, etc. ...) and then somehow add
it into development environment and then use it during
programming some projects.
Not linking different code to build some sw application.

You are correct .. PBNI is not for the IDE. I an not sure if there is one
or not. The person to ask here would be Dave Fish from Sybase. Maybe he will
respond here (Oh Dave!)?

There is nothing currently available that can be intergrated into the IDE.
There is an API, ORCA, but that cannot not run within PB.

You may be getting the idea that the answer depends on what you mean by "plugin
modules." Maybe if you could be more precise, we could provide some accurate
ideas.

One of the recent PB Futures webcasts mentioned something about this IIRC.

Yep, here it is. Dave Fish's webcast for PB10
(http://download.sybase.com/presentation/pb_techcast/sybs031604.wmv) has a
slide in the "Beyond PowerBuilder 10" section with the words: "Open
Platform: Open interface for developers to add their own plug in to PB IDE".
His words are "we are going to publish the API". When? He doesn't say.

Ok, I'll try.
Do you know the idea of Eclipse plugin modules?
You have the IDE and you can implement your own plugin
modules (e.g. for UML modeling, C++ devlopment,...). You can
execute such module directly from running IDE and use it
during particular project development in the same way like
standard modules of IDE.
This is the same. We have PB IDE. Is there any API for
plugin modules development? e.g. UML modeling,... (I know
PDesigner, but this is just an example).

Thank you.

Then most of the answers you've gotten are on track. The only
"integration" at this point is linking an external executable to a
custom toolbar button. For example, I'm changing PBL Peeper to format
the contents of the clipboard (SQL, script), so I'm putting it on a
toolbar button in the IDE to make it more accessible while I'm
developing.

Good luck,

Or maybe the plan is to build the IDE within Eclipse.
http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1034627
That would make things handier when compiling to Java and .Net comes along
in 11 or 12.
