Hi Group!

I have a linux machine with the Linux version of the ASA client (9.0.2). I
have the ODBC DSN's created, and can connect to a remote database server
(ASA 9.0.2) via isql and dbping returns success as well.

I have installed the latest version of Wine, unixODBC.

My problem is, when I envoke my PB application via Wine. The program
launches fine, but when I try to connect to the database from the PB
program, I get an error message that says "Allocation of the environment
handle failed."

Has anyone had success with a Powerbuilder app running on Linux via Wine?
Preferably, one that makes a connection to ASA... If so, perhaps you'd be
willing to point me in the right direction for getting mine working.

Thanks!

-Mike

There is an article on PBDJ about running PB application under linux:
http://pbdj.sys-con.com/node/683109

I tried few years ago to run my PB application under linux with Wine and
Oracle Client, and it worked fine (with minor display isses), but I don't
know how if it works today with newer versions.

Did you try the Windows version of isql to see if that works?

You have to ensure that the WINE environment is configured to access the
unixODBC layer and that the unixODBC layer is configured and working
with SQL Anywhere. If all that is working, you should be able to get PB
connected.

Start here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=237916

It is for connectivity to MySQL but that would be an ODBC connection. If
your SA ODBC is configured and working, you can simply use the SA DSN.

NOTE: This is an unsupported configuration and there does not seem to be
much knowledge here on this topic. If you continue to have problems,
you may want to consider seeking help from the WINE community. They
would have more experience in addressing application issues in WINE.

I know this thread is really old, but I am converting from Windows to Ubuntu.
I tried WINE but I had many strange error messages pop up and the app won't run at all.

Can I post the pictures here to let some one review my issue?
