Hi all,
I think powerbuilder its on its way to be extinct, from what I read everywhere.
I like the way you can build an app, fast and without much boiler plate code and especially the data window.

Is there any alternatives for PB? if anybody knows anything please share.

Thanks!

People have been saying this for years, but companies are still using it. Is it not that common? Yeah, of course. Will it ever die entirely? Who knows?

I have been a PB developer since the early 1990s with v3.0. I really like the PB platform and speed at which I can develop applications without having them look canned. With that said, I recently looked into upgrading to v12.6. I have v12.5 and was told there is no upgrade path to v12.6 even though I own every version between v3 and v12.5, as I do not have an SAP support plan with v12.5. So I made the decision to switch to .NET and migrate my applications to a web platform geared towards being hosted in the cloud. I have looked at .NET a few times previously and always felt that PB was the better platform. But Microsoft has come a long way and continues to enhance the .NET platform features that far surpass what PB is doing in my opinion. Development has been significantly slower as I make my way through re-developing but I am starting to notice that I am picking up on things much faster and there are tons of resources and sample code out there for .NET. Some of it good and some not the best advice but if you spend a little time reviewing a few of the search results, you can typically tell what is best practice and the better approach for what you are looking to achieve.

Hope that helps.
