I downloaded evaluation version of PowerBuilder 10 and installed it. Running
Powerbuilder 10 I receive a message:
"Initialization error" - "A required file for this trial software is missing
or corrupted. Please re-install".
I use Win2000 and also use PB9. What is wrong?

Thanks,
Peter

is the pb.ini file readonly , do you have permissions to write to it ?
you can find it under program files\sybase\powerbuilder 10\

You have to have administrator rights to install the software. Are
you logging in with such an account?

You might also try installing everything. The PB9 trial installer had
a problem where it didn't install the trial software key file if some
of the products weren't selected.

Finally, you might search for a TL_INI100.DLL or similar file and make
sure it's in the Windows\System32 directory. Once again, there was an
issue with the PB9 trial software installer in that in some cases it
would install that file in the Sybase/Shared/PowerBuilder directory
rather than the Windows/System32 directory where it needs to be. (The
file name was different for PB9, I'm guessing that is the correct file
name).

I'm getting the same error. However, I'm running Vista.
I've tried installing everything. I also checked to make
sure the dll's were installed to the correct locations. I
have an old version of PB 7 that I tested and it installed
and ran correctly. Does PB 10 run on Vista?

Same problem here running 10.5 trial under Vista (happens for
InfoMaker too). Anyone got this working under Vista?
The only file I can find similar to the one mentioned before is
PBTL105.DLL, which I've copied to c:\windows\system 32

There are definitely no guarantees with 10.0.0. Sybase has targeted
10.5.1 as a the first release to work on Vista.

You might want to watch what's going on with Process Monitor to see
what's going on, but the problem might not be solvable under 10.0.0 and
Vista.

Good luck,

I think I heard that as Tech Support is taking bug reports for 10.5.1, fixes
to be released as 10.5.2.

Call me rashly optimistic, but I hope they've started looking at issues
before now. <g> Whether the effort is complete or not, might depend on

The PB EXE is labelled as 10.5.0.4500 (27 Feb 06). I assumed that when
downloading the trial version, you would get the latest, but maybe
not. I'll try patching it to 10.5.1 and see if it makes a difference.

Thanks for the reponse. Maybe I'll just wait for the PB 11
eval and try again...
