We are developing a big application which was initialy started in Pb 9.0.2
and then we decided to migrate it to 10.5. We are having a lot of slow down
problems with Powerbuilder 10.5, we have never faced with any other version
of PB. It takes on average 10 to 15 secs to just open objects for editing. I
have even copied the source locally and tried it, not much imporvement. I
have a XP professional workstation with 1gb RAM and every thing else works
pretty good. My PB 9.0 works great. What is wrong with 10.5 , I even
installed the latest EBF build# 5034. Its very frustating and its happening
on all the workstations. I hope we didnt make a mistake migrating to 10.5
and we are really hard pressed on time. On paper 10.5 looked promising but
if the basic stuff doesn't work then it is of NO USE !!!!!.

Does any one have any ideas ?

You *even* copied the source locally? How were you working with it prior
to that? You should not have your entire team working from a shared set of
PBLs on a network drive...

Do you have virus scan software running? Make sure you're excluding .PB*
and .SR* extensions from being scanned in real-time.

I've been working with 10.5 for some time, and I think it's actually a
little bit faster than 9 and 10.2.

I've experienced significant slowness in some of our larger applications
(but for all versions of PB). Usually this is fixed when the source is
completely regenerated. Try building your application, which would cause
a full regen to take place.

Currently I'm not having any issues with performance with PB 10.5.

Paul,

We have different teams working working on different set of PBl's. What
meant by copying the source locally means I copied the entire WORKSPACE
with different TARGETS to a local drive with the same result.

Yes!!! I have rebuilt the entire workspace and optimized the libraries
even. We are talking about 60 - 80 pbls. But still having a slowdown. I
have since uninstalled the Mcafee antivirus from the workstations.

Any more guesses ?

Ravi
