Have you ever ran into the situation where attempting to
open a datawindow object in the IDE causes the IDE to crash
instantly? Using PB 10.5 build 4523

It's not the first time, but it's been a while since I have
had one that I cannot seem to resolve. I have optimized,
regenerated, exported, deleted...re-imported, etc. All with
no luck on getting the error resolved. This is not a
complicated datawindow object and there is nothing fancy
going on when looking at the source. This object has
worked for years, but as of yesterday, attempting to edit it
has caused me hours of fustration!

Any sugestions?

Seems to be any datawindow object in any pbl now. Dam It.

Menus, user objects, windows, etc. all seem to be fine.

Brad, thanks a million.

I seem to recall having to do this a couple of years ago.
That tip is now printed and pinned on my wall.

Try deleting the registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sybase\PowerBuilder\10.5\Layout\Default

Off topic:
Sybase has been reviewing NNTP availability and is looking at
alternative ways to build a user community. As a test-bed /
proof-of-concept, I have personally created a community on Ning
(http://powerbuilder.ning.com). While Ning certainly doesn't offer all
of the features that I'd like to see Sybase eventually implement, I am
trying to foster some community involvement on that site. Several of the
TeamSybase members have joined already and are available to answer
questions there.

Please sign up; give it a try. My hope is that it evolves into more than
just a Q&A database, but it won't get there without your participation.

No problem.

Delete the following registry entry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sybase\PowerBuilder\10.5\Layout\Default\Datawindow

It sounds like you have a corrupt layout. This will reset it.
