I just performed a clean install of the PB 11 trial and I'm really
excited about possibly converting some of our apps to Web Forms but I
can't seem to successfully run after deploying. I'm just trying to get
the Web Services Web Forms example code to run. It looks like the
deployment created the files I need, but when I go to run it I get this
error:

Could not load file or assembly 'Sybase.PowerBuilder.Core,
Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b76b10796def6a00' or
one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

It seems like I need to register the Sybase assemblies into Visual
Studio. Is this correct? What do I need to do? And what did I miss in
the install process to facilitate installing this on other PCs?

No need to register any of the assemblies into Visual Studio. Visual
Studio isn't required at all.

Are you trying to run this locally on your PC? Check the GAC to see if
the Sybase assemblies are there. (C:\WINDOWS\assembly)

You may need to restart IIS after installing PowerBuilder 11. Just to
make sure you didn't miss a step go over the installation and
configuration instructions provided in the Compiled HTML Help file for
PowerBuilder 11 (Start\Programs\Sybase\PowerBuilder 11\Compiled HTML
Help).

Interesting. When I installed PB 11 and tried to perform a deploy it
complained that the C# complier was missing. So I installed it and then
it was able to deploy. What do I do on machines that I can't install VS on?

I am running this locally, on a Win2k box. It does seem that I am
missing the Sybase assemblies from the assembly directory. How do I
install them?

There is the possibility that the box was not fully updated with .Net
2.0 when I installed PB 11. Could that have caused both of these problems?

I reviewed the "Configuring ASP.NET for a .NET Web project" and I had
missed a couple of things like security settings. So now it seems like I
just need to install the assemblies.

How can I add this.

Thanks
Eric

No problem, just keep an eye on the thread. I hope to resolve it shortly.

That's exactly where I'm at. I actually don't have any of the Sybase
assemblies in Windows\Assembly. I hope to have a solution shortly.

You only need the .NET Framework 2.0 and the .NET 2.0 SDK installed
before installing PowerBuilder. Both are free downloads from
Microsoft's web site.

The information on pre-requisites is available in the Installation
Guide available here:

http://infocenter.sybase.com/help/index.jsp?topic=/com.sybase.dc37771_1100/html/pbeinst/title.htm&toc=/com.sybase.help.pb_11.0/toc.xml

Expand the Table Of Contents to the Pre-installation tasks section and
then expand that to the Required software for PowerBuilder features
section.

Also, I noticed that you are running W2K. That is not a supported
platform for development though I believe some people were able to use
it during the Beta.

Ok, So I just need to re-install PB 11 then. I was probably just missing
the framework when I initially installed PB.

This is just a spare machine that I'm using to test PB 11 to see if we
want to purchase it. So it was a little behind the times when I first
installed PB. We only have a few old spare machines that run Win2K so if
I have other issues maybe I'll try changing that too, but between IIS 5
and .Net 2.0 I should have everything I need.

Thanks for the help

You can copy the assemblies from C:\Program Files\Sybase\PowerBuilder
11.0\DotNET\bin to the GAC.

Just saw your other post. You'll have to reinstall PowerBuilder 11 if
you installed it before the .NET prerequisites where installed.

Yeah I noticed that (and wondered).

Is Russo a merging of your two previous names? That is what my wife and I
did.

Cheers

Ya, The 'Ru' is from my name the 'so' is from her's and we added an 's'
that didn't exist in either. It actually worked out pretty cool, it
really encompasses the new union.

I have uninstalled PB 11 and then added all the .NET components.
Reinstalled PB 11 and I still don't have Sybase.Powerbuilder.Web.dll in the
Assembly folder. A simple copy and paste doesn't work. What command do I
use to add it to the assebly folder.

Never mind. Just found it. You can add .NET as a snap-in to your mmc and
do maintenance from their. Finally got the demo running. Yahoo.
