I have installed PB 8.0.1, build 8004. Win xp

We use adaptive Server anywhere 7.0

I have no database profiles created.

When I try and create one, at the very bottom of the screen,
backlit by maroon it says:

"Unable to load the requested database interface. Please
make sure both the interface and the client software are
properly installed."

Now, I also have powerbuilder 7.0.3 (build 10312) also
installed, also using ASA 7.0 and it runs just fine.

I have installed/uninstalled/reinstalled/pulled my hair out
with every possible (I think) permutation of PB 8.0
installation and I still can't get this to work.

Can anyone help?

Is pbodb080.dll installed and on the path? Is ODBC listed as a Vendor in the
following registry location?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sybase\PowerBuilder\8.0\Vendors

Yes, ODB (ODBC) is listed as a vendor.

I have a file called pbodb80.dll located in:

C:\ProgramFiles\Sybase\shared\powerbuilder

Are you referring to the system path?

My current system path is as follows:
C:\Program Files\Sybase\Jaguar CTS 3.5\bin;
C:\Program Files\Sybase\Jaguar CTS 3.5\dll;
C:\Program Files\Sybase\Jaguar CTS 3.5\client\dll;
C:\Program Files\Sybase\Shared\Sun\JDK118\bin;
C:\Program Files\Sybase\Shared\PowerBuilder;
C:\Program Files\Sybase\SQL Anywhere 7\win32;
C:\Program Files\Sybase\Shared\win32;
C:\Program Files\Sybase\Shared\Sybase Central 4.0\java

I tried that as well, still no dice.

I seem to recall some issue about early versions of PB8 not being able
to recognise versions of ASA other than the one delivered with the app.
It really messed me up too, but if I recall correctly, it was solved by
updating to the latest version of PB8.

That was only for DESKTOP editions only. PB Desktop will only connect using
drivers that it supplies. In the issue that you are referencing, the
connection was being made to a newer version of ASA than the version shipped
with PowerBuilder.
