We have a customer that has changed the connection info to a ASA7 database
from the normal server/database name to the TCP id and notes that it is a
lot faster now.
I know in the application (PB7) we connect only once, at logon.
Does anyone have an explanation for this (so we may use this more often) or
is this just a coincidence?

thanks

I am not sure what you are asking. Lets make some assumptions and correct me
later if the assumptions are not correct

Assumptions
1) You are using ODBC for connectivity
2) You have added HOST=<...> to your connectivity settings
3) It is faster now that 2) has been implemented.

If the assumptions are correct, the performance improvement should be at
connection time only (we do not have to broadcast to the connection).

Can you provide the exact before and after of your DSN settings to
faciliate?
