Alerts with blackout dates

We're trying to set up our alerts so that users don't get paged on certain days or hours of the day. For example, don't page them on sat/sun, or only page between 8a and 5p. Has anyone done anything like this? And if so how? We're trying to alert our ancilary analysts if their interfaces have stopped sending to the engine. Thanks.
