Open Client 11.1.1 Win NT will not ping sybase

will not ping the Sybase server on the sun box.
I get the message "Open connection to server at
(213.21.3.165,1500) fails." "Loaded the Dynamic Link Library NLWNSCK.DLL
(C:\sybase\dll\NLWNSCK.DLL)".
Everything else looks fine, network connection, isql, netstat results
BEFORE attempting the sybase ping - after the ping when attempting to do a
'tracert' from the command prompt I receive a timeout message - Anyone have
any ideas as to what may be happening here?

Mike,
Use the <hostname> not the ip address in your specification of the entry in dsedit.
You should see something like " tcp - myhost, 1234 ", not " tcp - 123.23.23.123, 1234".
Make sure you can ping the sun box by name also. "ping <hostname>".
