we have a ASE 15 server running on Linux managed by another department
that we need to connect to from MS SQL 2005. First choice is x64 but
if need be we can buy x86. I played with drivers from DataDirect and
they worked but they are expensive.

With native sybase drivers i seem to only be able to connect via ODBC.
Is there any way to make a native OLEDB connection from x64 SQL Server
to ASE 15 running on x64 Linux? What do I need to install? I installed
ASE 15 Developer's edition and didn't see a OLEDB driver in my MS SQL
tools.

Hi Alen,

Are you using the MSSQL Server linked server? You should be able to
get this to work. What exactly did you install on the Winx64 machine -
include the
versions. On the 15.0 SDK 64 bit you should have an OLE DB Provider
installed.

I don't know if the 64 bit Provider is included with the PC Client disk
included
with your ASE on Linux (the client disk is something that installs on a PC
Windows
client). Check to see if you ahve that - this is what you need in order to
connect MS SQL
Server 2005 (via linked server) to ASE 15.0.

Thank you,

-Paul
