Are there any plans to create a unified ADO.NET driver that connects to
all the various Sybase database products?

Will there ever be a completely managed ADO.NET driver (no
sybdrvado20.dll requirement)?

Hi Michael,

I don't know about the first question. It would be a huge undertaking to
do this. Don't know of plans for this.

For the second question, with ASE ADO.NET Provider, eventually this will
happen but
not sure on the timeframe. I don't know if it'll happen in 2010.

For the 2nd question, you can open a Sybase tech support and officially
support this request -
we have a CR logged as a feature to fully manage the ASE ADO.NET Provider,
at least to
start with the sybdrvado20.dll DLL.

Thank you,

-Paul

Hello Paul,

I went ahead and created a support case for the second item.

Thanks for the info and happy holidays.
