VMWare sybase 15.5 on linux performing slow

Hello
we have a production databaser server running on Linux red VMWare had
and installed sybase 15.5 the performance is slow while ether
dumping, loading even bcps in & out, however the same configuration on
a no VMWare enviroment is fast, has anyone came across this? is there
any specific parameters for sybase on VMWare linux
any help would be great
