We're in the process of planning and testing our move from ASE 15.0.3 to ASE 15.7. We run sybase on Windows. To do this were just going to build new 15.7 instances and load 15.0.3 backups onto them. This in itself works OK.
The problem I'm having at the moment is that a number of our 15.0.3 machines have multiple Sybase instances on them. I've looked through the Windows installation Guide and there isn't anything about creating additional instances on a single Windows server.
Previously we just used resource files to create our instances but this is no longer supported with 15.7 on Windows. It's been replaced with response files but these and the GUI install include the entire ASE software install. This will mean that each time we want to create an instance we have to install Sybase over the previous install.
Does anyone have any tips on how to create a second instance of Sybase 15.7 on a Windows box.
