I've looked at the Software requirements and no specific server role is specified. Do I need to install the "Application Server Role" ??? This is the only thing I can think of for the error reporting.

This article describes how to use Windows Error Reporting (WER) to capture application crash dumps (User Dumps) on Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista SP1 onwards.

Starting with Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 (SP1), Windows Error Reporting (WER) can be configured so that full user-mode dumps are collected and stored locally after a user-mode application crashes. Applications that do their own custom crash reporting, including .NET applications, are not supported by this feature.

Note: Dr. Watson error is obsolete and has been superseded by Windows Error Reporting (WER) in Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.

Scoping the Issue: For application hangs, there are a couple of things that you can do. First, check Task Manager. If the process is unresponsive but is not listed as "Not Responding" in Task Manager, then the application may be functioning normally but is waiting for data - possibly from a network resource. If you are experiencing an issue as a result of a network bottleneck or network resource failure, the symptom will most likely be evident on multiple client systems - where all their applications waiting on that resource, or set of resources become unresponsive at the same time. In some instances, the application may be functioning quite normally, however it is actually waiting for user input, but the user input box has somehow been hidden behind other open windows. If however, the application is listed as "Not Responding" in Task Manager, then it may truly be hung, but keep in mind are some scenarios where applications that are waiting for network resources may also be listed as "Not Responding".

Application crashes are usually easy to spot. In most instances, the application exits, and an error message from Dr. Watson or Windows Error Reporting will be displayed. In many instances, the error message will indicate an Access Violation of some sort and a user-mode dump of the process will be created.

Cookies are small text files placed on your device to store data that can be recalled by a web server in the domain that placed the cookie. This data often consists of a string of numbers and letters that uniquely identifies your computer, but it can contain other information as well. Some cookies are placed by third parties acting on our behalf. We use cookies and similar technologies to store and honor your preferences and settings, enable you to sign-in, provide interest-based advertising, combat fraud, analyze how our products perform, and fulfill other legitimate purposes described below. Microsoft apps use additional identifiers, such as the advertising ID in Windows, for similar purposes, and many of our websites and applications also contain web beacons or other similar technologies, as described below.

When you have enabled family activity reporting for a child, Microsoft will collect details about how the child uses their devices, such as search, web, app, and game activity, and provide parents with reports of that child's online activities. Activity reports are routinely deleted from Microsoft servers.

Outlook applications. Outlook client applications are software you install on your device that permits you to manage email, calendar items, files, contacts, and other data from email, file storage, and other services, like Exchange Online or Outlook.com, or servers, like Microsoft Exchange. You can use multiple accounts from different providers, including third-party providers, with Outlook applications.

When you add an account to Outlook, your mail, calendar items, files, contacts, settings and other data from that account will automatically sync to your device. If you are using the mobile Outlook application, that data will also sync to Microsoft servers to enable additional features such as faster search, personalized filtering of less important mail, and an ability to add email attachments from linked file storage providers without leaving the Outlook application. If you are using the desktop Outlook application, you can choose whether to allow the data to sync to our servers. At any time, you can remove an account or make changes to the data that is synced from your account.

Optional diagnostic data includes more detailed information about your device and its settings, capabilities, and device health. Optional diagnostic data also includes data about the websites you browse, device activity (also sometimes referred to as usage), and enhanced error reporting that helps Microsoft to fix and improve products and services for all users. When you choose to send Optional diagnostic data, Required diagnostic data will always be included, and we collect the following additional information:

Malicious Software Removal Tool. The Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT) runs on your device at least once per month as part of Windows Update. MSRT checks devices for infections by specific, prevalent malicious software ("malware") and helps remove any infections found. When the MSRT runs, it will remove the malware listed on the Microsoft Support website if the malware is on your device. During a malware check, a report will be sent to Microsoft with specific data about malware detected, errors, and other data about your device. If you do not want MSRT to send this data to Microsoft, you can disable MSRT's reporting component.

glossaryTextServer. The enterprise server and port that provide glossary text information. This is the server that returns text descriptions for errors. This is frequently the same host and port as the JD Edwards OneWorld application server. There may be more than one glossary server for different supported language encodings. For example, JDED:6010 or actsrv1:6009. The values must match those set in System Definition.

The adapters log error, warning, and information messages to the Windows Event Viewer. You can view additional tracing messages by using the Event Tracing for Windows (ETW) tool. When ETW is enabled, it creates an *.etl file to receive the messages. This file is in binary format and must be converted to be read. To do this, you must have a consumer application available to interpret the *.etl file, for example, Windows tracerpt.exe or tracedmp.exe.

Do not set up environment variables for Microsoft Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project, or for AutoCAD. If these applications are installed on the server, the Generate PDF service automatically starts these applications.

The user account used to start the application server requires the Replace a process level token privilege. The local system account has the Replace a process level token privilege by default. For the servers running with a user of the Local Administrators group, the privilege must be granted explicitly. Perform the following steps to grant the privilege:

After the package is installed, you are prompted to restart the AEM instance. Do not immediately stop the server. Before stopping the AEM Forms Server, wait until the ServiceEvent REGISTERED and ServiceEvent UNREGISTERED messages stop appearing in the [AEM-Installation-Directory]/crx-quickstart/logs/error.log file and the log is stable.

Install the supported version of OpenOffice. AEM Forms supports both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. After installing, open all the OpenOffice applications, cancel all the dialog windows, and close the applications. Reopen the applications and ensure that no dialog box is displayed on opening an OpenOffice application.

Endusers receive an error message when their default Web browser was removed during a base layer or app layer update.

If you perform a base layer or app layer update that removes a Web-browser application that an end user has specified as their default Web browser, the end user might receive an error message when opening Websites or HTML files.

Another thing which you should try is either uninstalling or replacing the specific application which was causing you trouble. Normally, you will be able to instantly diagnose which application was giving the Event ID 1000 by retracing the file path. If you have successfully identified the application, you can follow the steps listed below to uninstall it. If you cannot determine which application is causing the error, you can move on to the Clean boot solution which we have listed down below.
