The problem is, when I change the device for the monitor, Windows 10 notices it and changes to a single desktop. This makes some programs stop displaying graphics and clusters all of my windows over each other.
I believe there is a pin #19 called hotplug-detect in most HDMI (and DisplayPort) ports which allows monitors to tell OS to keep 'alive' even when you turn off the monitor with the power button (but still powered via wall socket).
Well, in reality I have about 5x that many programs open at any given time and I always want them to appear on the same displays. I never want Chrome on the tiny laptop display and I never want Mail on the enormous leftmost display. After two years of dragging windows back and forth twice a day it has become the most infuriating thing in my life! (pretty good life, no doubt)
I can't test your setup so I can't help with this esoteric bug but I do know of an app that may help. Check out Moom. It's primarily a window-snapper utility, but it has a unique feature in which you can setup window layout snapshots based on the currently available windows.

Anybody using Windows 11 for work and part of the work is to create or publish files which in my case, I want to put it on the desktop first. But once I save or copy a data to desktop, the arrangement of the desktop icons got messed up again and again, like the file that you pasted in a certain location in the desktop got moved on the top leftmost of the screen replacing Recycle Bin in its position.
I am not sure what operating system you are using, possibly ChromeOS? Saving files to the desktop makes them hard to organise and find by date. In some operating systems there is risk in saving to the desktop, for example, in Windows if you use System Restore you will lose everything in Desktop while My Documents (or Documents) will be untouched.
This just happened today. I have been saving to Desktop for two years now, and moving to Documents when a file is completed. I have no idea how it got changed. Maybe some change associated with studying LibreOffice Writer and clicking on buttons to see the results described. I am not sure. I simply know that my system now will only allow me to save to MyDocuments unless I copy and paste to the desktop file. Discovered that just today also.
I guess I must get some tech help where they can look at my computer so they can see what is happening. It has nothing to do with being harder to manage (just learned that from you today). It has never been hard for me. I must get outside help to investigate my computer and Writer.

Thank you. All is now in Documents and my desktop looks much nicer. Still do not know how this new window came to be that prompts me to save to Documents, But all is good now. I'm creating a desktop gadget, and am running into problems. The window will be hidden by the "Show Desktop" command - STOP, I know what you're thinking and don't need "you shouldn't do this" comments - and I want to stop it. The whole point of a desktop gadget is, after all, that it sticks to the desktop.
Just to clarify - I don't want a TopMost window. I don't want to actually STOP the "Show Desktop" command, just ignore it. All I want is for my desktop gadget to stay visible on the desktop, disrupting as little normal functionality as usual.
I have 3 monitors running latest Catalina. Each monitor has 2 or more "desktops" in spaces. I take a lot of time to arrange it with many windows and desktops. Every time I restart or shutdown my MacBook (latest), I have to rearrange almost all the windows and spaces, regardless if I select the "Reopen windows when logging back it...)

We have one desktop that runs Win XP. I was told this machine could not be upgraded no matter what as it runs a laser cutting software that just simply will not run on Windows 7. My first instinct is to remove this machine from our domain at once, but the machine may have to remain on our domain so engineers can send orders to it for processing.
If you need to keep the device as is, remove it from your domain, then VLAN it off. For some of the out of lifecycle devices I need to support, I place them on a VLAN where they can only access maybe a printer and a single file server for data storage. For any external users, like in your case, I also allow access to that VLAN from a terminal server so that users can still access web interfaces or interact with the systems.
