Hi gurus! Hope you can point a newbie in the right direction...

I recently downloaded and installed Sybase ASE 15.0 for Solaris and Sybase
Central v. 4.3 for Windows. But I'm having a hard time trying to connect
from the client to the server! Older versions did not give me any hassle, it
was just dsedit and whoppee! But now, It just gives me error messages that I
need to install plug-ins, which seem to *not* have been included in the
bundle?

Anyone else experienced this?

Thanks!

Peter,

Could you please describe how you installed the Sybase Central tool and the
errors that you are getting in more detail?

Did you run the PC Client installer to install the Sybase Central component?

What errors if any have you seen when trying to use the ASE Plug-in?

Does the "Adaptive Server Enterprise" plug-in appear in the Sybase Central
program? Check

Tools -> Plug-ins to see whether the ASE Plug-in is listed there.

If you do not find the ASE Plug-in listed on this screen, follow these steps
to register it:

1) Click on "Register" button on this screen
2) Click on the "Browse" button
3) Navigate to %SYBASE%\ASEP\bin directory
4) Select the ASEPlugin.jpr file and click "Open"
5) Click the "Finish" button

Please let me know if you are not able to correct this problem.

Hi!

Seems there is a java problem, and not a problem with the software itself.

Anyway, thanks for all the replies!
