Hi,

I'm trying to get ddlgen to work using ASE12.5.1 but
whatever server I specify I always get the same error:

> $SYBASE/sybcent32/ddlgen -Usa -P{password}
-Slonamxamind1:5000

Starting DDLGenerator Java Edition (displaying to
lonamxamind1) ...

Unable to obtain Connection to the Server :
lonamxamind1:5000
DDLGenerator Ends.

Anyone got any clues as to why I can't connect?

Thanks

John

Check that 'lonamxamind1:5000' is 'host:port', or substitute at first IP address instead
of 'host' where Sybase server resides.

Hi,

Yes, just as I got your response I was trying an IP instead
of a hostname, and sure enough, it worked!
So either our machine config is not doing the name/IP
resolution correctly, or ddlgen just doesn't work with
hostnames.

Thanks,

ddlgen does work with hostnames, but you have to have them either
in DNS or /etc/hosts.
