APT to Powerbuilder Conversion /Migration

Has anyone had any recent experience in the migration of APT to
Powerbuilder?

Do the vendors who tout that they have the tools to do the conversion
actually save time, and therefore money?
Has anyone had direct experience with the vendors?

Or is it cheaper to do a ground up development in PB?

Has anyone found any suitable UNIX applications that could replace APT?

What other tools are people using to maintain SYBASE databases other than
Unix line commands?

Any help would be appreciated.

I seriously doubt it. Like all other conversion tools I've ever
come across, considerable intervention is required in cleaning
up the final result.

I would prefer the ground up approach, but I wouldn't
necessarily recommend PB.

Depends on what your looking for. I would prefer sybperl or C.
You might not.

I still use Data Workbench for interactive GUI sessions on Unix
since there isn't much else. There are some Java apps out that
can do much the same, but I've found them to be slow. There's
also a TCL app written in sybtcl.
