SW Washington Commission on African American Affairs

Purpose


The Washington State Commission on African American examines and defines issues pertaining to the rights and needs of African-Americans in Washington.

Dolly England, the SW Washington Commissioner, has decided to host monthly town hall meetings where locally we can discuss issues pertaining to the rights and needs of African-Americans in SW Washington. As a community recommendations will be made to Dolly England, the SW Washington Commissioner on African American Affairs, who will take the collaborative feedback to the larger commission as well as the Governor and other state agencies for recommend changes in programs and laws.

The SW Washington Commissioner on African American Affairs will make recommendations to local agencies on the development and implementation of policies, plans, and programs that relate to the needs of African-Americans in SW Washington. Acting in concert with the Washington State Commission on African American Affairs, they will advise locally on legislative and other policy issues of concern to the African-American community in SW Washington. The SW Washington Commissioner on African American Affairs will establish relationships with state agencies, local governments, and private sector organizations that promote equal opportunity and benefits for African-Americans in SW Washington.
