Did swupdate preserve some datadirs like Mender do it (/data is preserved for persistent settings) ?
Didn't find any traces about it in documentation.

Yes - but there is no fix path, it is duty of the integrator to set up
the release to do this. In most cases, persistent data is stored on a
seaparate partition and this is not touched by SWUpdate at all. Or there
are use cases with doubled persistent data, or data is saved and
restored, or...it is up to you.

That means separate partition /data not included in Yocto build rootfs, which is base for .swu file ?

That means it depends on your design, and how rootfs is updated. You can
also update rootfs with the archive handler (that means a tarball) and
you decide which paths are updated and which not, or whatever. First you
need a design concept, and then you can configure / adjust SWUpdate to
do what you need.
