Hello everyone:
I'm new about ROS and I was just wondering could I apply ROS-I to my Mitsubishi MELFA RV-4F? Is ROS-I only available to specific Robots?

Jin,

ROS-I is only available for specific hardware (see http://wiki.ros.org/Industrial/supported_hardware ).  There is significant interest in supporting Mitsubishi.  Technically this seems very possible.  What is your interest level in Mitsubishi?  Would you be willing to help out on a driver effort for the Mitsubishi controller.

Shaun,
Thank you very much for your reply and I am very grateful for your answers.
I am learning ROS wiki these days and didn't find the robot I have on the supported hardware web page(my robot controller is CR751). I am very interested in enabling the RV-4F to achieve some basic motions through ROS, for example, pick and place. And I also got a Kinect sensor in my lab,I just have no idea how to use 3D vision of that.It would be my honor if I could help out on the driver effort for the controller and I am looking forward to your advise.

Jin,

Are you familiar with the Mitsubishi programming language/libraries.  All that is required is to write a server program on the Mitsubish controller that connects to the ROS-Industrial robot clients.  This would provide the missing link to allow ROS to command robot motion.  We can take this conversation off list if you think this is something you would be interested in.
