Dear all,

I am very, very happy to (re)broadcast the victory of our fellow ROS(-I) developers in Delft, who won this year's edition of the Amazon Picking Challenge, with a ROS-powered entry of course!

Good job folks!!

Thank you: it was a tough challenge with some very good competition.

I'm one of the programmers for Team Delft, and just to clarify: The team was comprised of people from the Delft University of Technology

and Delft Robotics (the company). A true team effort :)

Congratulations!

Any chance you'll publish an overview of your program? I'm not talking about code, just an insight on how you made things works.

Things I'd like to know:
- Are you using PCL? Happy with it?
- What was the biggest challenge?
- Is there things that you failed to make work?

Bye

The code will be published under an open source license, but I understand that a shortish overview can be more valuable (or serve as a guide to looking at bits of code). Personally I'm already quite busy with other things, but I believe there will be a publication on how we applied move-it and what kind of issues we ran in to by another team member. We will keep the list updated on the progress on that.

I can probably find the time to shortly summarize the different components and techniques used in the system here some time this week. If not it will be near the end of next week (if no other team member responds) since I will be taking a short holiday starting this weekend.

I should really head to bed now, but I will address these questions with the summary of the components/techniques. I'll also discuss them with the rest of the team (over lunch) to see if there are different opinions.
