The original message is below for those who missed it. The updates are
for everybody!

Deadline for submission is extended to August 31, 2008

****TWO MORE WEEKS TO SUBMIT FOR THESE OFFICIAL SHOWCASES****

(Previous formal showcase artists must wait 3 years from the time of
their last SWRFA showcase in order to submit again)

We have confirmed the Opening event on Wednesday Oct 1st at
Threadgill's North. It is closer to the hotel than Cactus and they are
(as was Griff at Cactus) very excited to have us. This is open to all
registered artists as a name in the hat everyone gets an additional
time to be heard opportunity, and is also an opportunity for the other
attendees, particularly the venues, to hear the artists in advance of
the Conference. Also for the folks at Threadgill's to hear as well.

If you have an idea for or want to present a panel or seminar contact
me at alli...@kerrville-music.com

Please go to the blog at www.swrfa.com and sign up to talk about
showcases, ride and room sharing, etc. Greg has posted a message
offering registered artists an opportunity to post an MP3 on the SWRFA
site. You can send it to him from the Home page already!

We have sent messages to Songwriters Groups and Associations in our
region (TX,OK,CO,NM,UT) to encourage their membership to participate
by offering a scholarship from SWRFA to one of their members with a
request that they offer one to a second member (not mandatory). If you
know of a group that is an existing, organized group in our Region let
us know at alli...@kerrville-music.com and we will contact them as
well.

You can access SWRFA info on www.myspace.com/swrfa too. Thanks Charlie
Stewart!
Please sign up to be our friend on MySpace.

Thanks,
Dalis

Hi everybody –
The 2008 Southwest Regional Folk Alliance (SWRFA) is October 2 – 5,
2008 at the Radisson Austin North in Austin TX.
The early bird event on Wednesday Oct 1 will hopefully be at
Threadgill’s North or back at the Cactus Café so that
all of the registered artists will have this additional opportunity
to
perform.
The website at www.swrfa.com has been totally updated and it is
GREAT!
Much easier to navigate. The forms and schedules and lots more info,
a
blog, it’s all there. Thanks Greg Forest.
The Official Showcase submission deadline is August 15. Send a cd
with
the 3
songs you want listened to marked, or a burned cd with those songs on
it,
one page bio, photo, the application form from the webpage and a
check
or credit card number
for $25 to SWRFA Showcase, PO Box 291466, Kerrville, TX 78029. You
can also submit on Sonicbids at www.sonicbids.com/swrfa (there is a
button for it on the webpage.)
Thursday night will be an open mic by the pool hosted by Butch
Morgan from 6:30 – 10PM. All registered performing artists will have
an opportunity to be heard. All the feedback from last year indicated
everyone was all about
that time together and didn’t want to divide up into rooms until
Friday
night. Should be much fun, was last year!
Sunday morning Song Assignments was a huge hit and we will be doing
it
again in the Elm room during brunch. So much talent at this event!
If you have any questions just email me at alliance@kerrville-
music.com.

Thanks for your attention. Hope to see you soon.
Dalis
