Nice design. I made mine with a pipe insulation chain instead of a
rope.

For those interested in making a mace rather than a flail, take only
the area from the pommel area to the beginning of the chain and put
extra foam on the thicker end. I haven't had an opportunity to test it
in combat yet, (curse you, northern winters!) But hitting it against
myself way harder than I would in battle only stings about as much as
any other swordtag weapon.

Turns out not so much. Tried it in combat with a friend, and it didn't
work. Sorry about the misinformation.
