Postdoctoral Researcher Positions (×2): Drug Discovery and Delivery Through AI-Driven Hardware-Accelerated Molecular Dynamics Simulation and Neurotechnology
Location: HADILAB, McMaster University (Hamilton, Ontario, Canada)
Start date: As soon as possible. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled; however, applications received by June 30, 2026, will receive full consideration.
Funding: New Frontiers in Research Fund - Exploration (NFRF-E), Government of Canada.
The Hardware Accelerated Design and Integration Laboratory (HADILAB) at McMaster University invites applications for two Postdoctoral positions in custom and reconfigurable computing for accelerating AI-driven drug discovery and delivery. These positions are funded through the New Frontiers in Research Fund - Exploration (NFRF-E). The lab's research focuses on hardware acceleration, domain-specific architectures, and reconfigurable systems, with applications in machine learning, molecular dynamics simulations, and neurotechnology. Research activities include FPGA-based prototyping of end-to-end hardware-accelerated molecular dynamics simulation pipeline.
Responsibilities
The successful candidates will conduct independent and collaborative research in custom and reconfigurable computing, design, implement, and evaluate end-to-end FPGA-based accelerators for molecular dynamics simulation, publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, present results at conferences and seminars, mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and contribute to collaborative research initiatives and grant-related activities.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field, with the degree conferred no more than five years prior to the start date. The successful candidate should demonstrate strong expertise in computer architecture, digital hardware design, reconfigurable computing, and machine learning. A strong publication record and excellent communication skills are required. Expertise in biochemistry or brain-computer interfaces is considered an asset, given the drug discovery and neurotechnology applications of the research. Industry experience is also an asset.
How to Apply
Applications should include a CV, transcripts (official or unofficial), representative examples of scholarly writing (publications, abstracts, drafts, or dissertations), and contact information for two or three referees. Please submit all materials by email to Dr. Ameer Abdelhadi, Lab Director, at am...@mcmaster.ca, using the subject line: Postdoctoral Application - [Your Name].

Please forward this post to prospective candidates who might be interested.
