Hi Everyone,
Here's a list of nordic ski events happening in our area in the next couple months. So many fun things to do if you like community ski races or events! All the races are for everyone from absolute beginners to pros and have a fun, supportive atmosphere. And you get to try out some spectacular courses around the southern Rockies.
The only full-service nordic ski area in NM with rentals, lessons, and some fun events throughout the year, including this cozy night ski.
20k, 5k and kid k freestyle. Pagosa events are super friendly, and this one is a relatively flat course. Pagosa = hot springs!
New Mexico's own xc ski race! 51st annual this year!! 6 & 12 k classic and snowshoe events, wood ski division. Gorgeous course with big rolling hills.
16k, 4k and kid k freestyle. If you've never tried a biathlon, this is a super fun one to try! They provide the BB guns, you just come and have fun. Close to downtown Pagosa and hot springs.
Biggest xc ski event in our region. 42, 21, 10, 5k and 3 & 1k kid events. Classic or skate options. Festive atmosphere, lots of spectators, costumes, ski pub crawl. Nordic Club Clash: This event has a team competition! Our club has entered multiple 6-person teams and done really well! We won the inaugural event and placed 2 teams last year! We're going to enter teams again this year. Think about whether you would be interested in joining a SWNSC team, and what distance you would like to race. Look for a separate email about this one!
30, 20, 10, 4 & kinder 2k freestyle. Breathtaking views, music on the deck afterward, and right across the street from Purgatory for those who like to mix their ski flavors.
Like sweets? This is for you. So many sweets, and trundling around the trails until you are so stuffed with dessert you can't move anymore.
Leadville Loppet, late Feb
I don't see an updated event page for this one but will send it out when I find it. High altitude skiing and awesome soup lunch afterward.
Feel free to speak up about any events I missed! We've been to all of these so reach out if you have questions.
