Hi all,

This feels a bit early compared to previous years, so I almost missed it, BUT the first Splash N Dash of the year is tomorrow Wed May 14th!!
There will be 5 of them total on Wednesday nights with following dates. I also pasted the general info email on how it works from the nearly 20 years when Triatomics and many folks in this club used to put it on (since last year the county is putting it on). It does cost $5 per person now and you do not need a pool pass.
Mike, do we still sign up at the BACKDOOR to the Aquatic center toward PEEC Nature Center where the swim-to-run transition is set up or at the front desk? Also, I'm pasting an older info email from you - if there are changes with the way the county does it now, please reply all and correct (is the start really 7:30, not 7??) - thank you for your help, Mike!!

First time at a Splash'N'Dash event or need a refresher? Check out all you need to know below!

Important Reminders:
1) Sign up will be on the east side of the Aquatic Center (back door towards driveway closest to PEEC Nature Center.
2) If you want to swim as part of your warm up, please go in the front entrance of the aquatic center and show your pass or pay for a single admission as you normally would.
3) We welcome all ages, levels, and abilities, but we do ask that parents be aware of their child(ren)'s swimming ability and monitor their child closely while in the pool, in case they need assistance.

Event Info:
1) Sign up will be from 6:20 pm to 6:50 pm (Mike, correct??). Those participating for the 1st time will need to fill out a waiver. We will do our best to have the first swimmer starting shortly after 7:00 pm.
2) The transition area will be on the pavement and grass on the East side of the Aquatic Center building.
3)  After you complete the swim, move any gear from the pool area to the area outside the east side pool doors (pool may be locked/closed before you complete the run!!) and then head out to run.
4) Have fun, be safe and be respectful of each other.
 5) We will have eight  25 yard  lanes for our use.   Swim distances are as follows.

Long course -400 yards= 16 x 25 yard lengths
Short course -200 yards  =8 x 25 yard lengths
Youth course-100 yards = 4  x 25 yard lengths.

400 yard swimmers-There will be two way traffic in the lanes.   That means you must swim crawl stroke or breast stroke.   NO backstroke allowed for safety reasons.   We will seed people  with faster swimmers starting first.

400 yard swim
A under 7:30
B 7:30 minutes -9/00
C over 9:00

There are 3 course choices just like in past years.   As in past years, you may run/swim a shorter distance, but please let me or the person registering you know so that you are scored separately.   For example-If you want to swim 400 yards  and run the  3 km route,  that is fine.  Parents of young children-you are responsible for their safety and giving them the appropriate assistance/guidance to complete the course safely.   Adults that want a sprint workout can do the youth course, but will be scored separately.

Long course=400 yard swim + 5 km run.
Short Course=200 yard swim + 3 km run.
Youth Course=100 yard swim + 1 mile run.

5 km run course trace is here.     Solo splash n dash run | Run | Strava.
3 km course-you will turn around at Orange and Diamond.   1 mile course-you will turn around at Canyon Road and Diamond Drive.

Run course reminders
For the portions along Canyon Road and Diamond Drive, please run on the sidewalk.   For the portions along Orange and Nickel Streets, you may run on the sidewalk or the streets.

Hey Everyone,
I had no involvement in planning Splash N Dash this year. I will be working tonight until 8, so won't be participating or volunteering.   Signup is at the Aquatic Center front desk.   Meet up inside the pool just before 7 pm on the mural side-the side where swimmers line up before started the swim leg of SnD.   If I am on the lifeguard stand, I will cheer on new and familiar faces.   Need more information?  Call the aquatic center at 505-662-8170 and ask for Brendan Tuning.

Thank you, Mike!
I called the Aquatic Center as Mike recommends and Brendan is out today. The person answering wasnt entirely sure on the time frame in that it wasnt clear if we start at 7 (what has been done in the past) or if we sign up at 7 and start first person at 7:30....
They did say to come in with your swim time to check in, get on the list and pay your $5 at the FRONT desk.
Based on our discussion on time, I'd say arriving between 6:30 and 6:50 is best since first swimmer in the past always went off at 7...
This first one might be a bit of a learning experience. I plan to go, so I'll let you know for the following ones what I find out.
See you there if you make it tonight!

All,
Public swim ends at 7:00.   The first SnD swimmer will start shortly after the last public swimmer gets out of the pool.
