Whew -- that was a bit of a scare with the zip ties, but they were found.
Lynn Bjorklund got the crew going this morning on the fencing work. They got a row of fencing installed from Point-A, down to the end of the field fence on the lower road, then they started work on the front hill, using the back of the Kubota as a platform to hang the upper row.
They plan on working through today and tomorrow, weather permitting. We'll see how much they get done. I'll go up tonight to see the progress, and go uncover the fencing along the trail that got buried by the snow.
There may not be a whole lot left to do this weekend, other than to add more zip ties to what they're getting put up. They're focusing more on speed and progress than fortifying the installation. Plus, the zip ties we got are not the best quality -- that's what we get when we buy cheap, bulk zip ties. Perhaps the ones that Sanna purchased can be used to fortify the installation. Those are much better quality.
We may not get the fencing sections installed at "The Rock" below Point-J, so that may still need to be done on Saturday, plus those other outer sections that less critical, but do provide some shade during a part of the day such as:
- Point H (where the main trail splits to go uphill on Dave's Dogleg) -- there is fencing leaning there now
- Point F (the section along TJ's just before the hairpin curve) -- no fencing is there right now
- Above Point-O but below Point-N, where the trail first enters the lower part of the meadow -- that's a pretty short section to install, but it's always hard to get to -- probably better to leave for a groomer to install.
- Last, upper switchback/hairpin curve on the upper trails, below Point-L -- also very hard to get to and best to leave for a groomer to install.
