Well, it's getting to the point where we have to really put some focus on getting things done. The removal of locust/aspen shoots is about 70% complete. There is still quite a bit on TJs loop (Points CDEFG) and Dave's Dogleg (Points H-I), then the upper trails from J to L. 

We brought Kermit down to Logan's for some work on the starter (which I now have, btw Logan) and the transmission. I have a few things to do with machines and the groomers themselves to get done before we're ready. 

The big question mark is the fence hanging initiative. Someone usually steps up to manage that project. It's one of the most critical tasks to prepare for the season. Without it, well, there wouldn't be any snow from the trailhead to about Point B. So, we do need a small army of willing volunteers to be ready for the season!

Would folks be around to help with the fence hanging next weekend (Nov 9 and 10)?

I can go and get zip ties. Clay, or someone who can drive the fencing up, would you be available to do that?

We could start on Sat at 9am and if enough folks come, we might almost finish on Sat.

Thanks for stepping up. I will be happy to help next weekend.

We will need somebody who can drive the machines.

Otherwise we just need all of us to show up ready to work. For this job, things that can be helpful are pliers for grabbing the end of the zip ties, gloves, snacks, and a couple of step ladders. What else?

If you don’t have deep, big pockets, it is handy to have a small accessible bag or pouch to carry your zip ties and tools.

Hello Sana, I will be ready to assist next weekend as well. I know in the past I’ve stepped up, but have been a little tied up with travel and remodeling projects. One thing to consider is that we need to make sure that the poles are all secure before we hang the fence. I will try reaching out to you by phone this afternoon.

Hey SWNSC Friends,
It was actually real skiing on the trails today as opposed to trying to slide around on a few frozen blades of grass with 2-3" of snow.   I work the evening shift at the pool, but I am available and happy to help with fence hanging this coming Saturday morning and/or Friday morning before 10:30 am.   

Fingers crossed that this winter is a repeat of 2000-01 or 1986-87=skiing the xc trails in November and the lifts running at Thanksgiving on Pajarito.  1986-87 season the lifts ran until Mother Day Weekend.  2000-01-the winter after the Cerro Grando Fire, lifts ran until mid April

The Forest Service YCC Fire Crew was able to help out today, and will also help all day tomorrow.  If anyone wants to jump in for an hour or two, like over the lunch hour, that would be great.  there is a good chance that the bulk of it will be done by Wednesday afternoon, just in time for another potential snow delivery.
