Greetings neighbors,

The South Knoxville Neighborhood & Business Coalition (SKNBC) is sponsoring a community event to learn more about a proposed change to General Commercial  Zoning (C-G-2 & C-G-3) specifications. This change, if approved by City Council, could affect Chapman Highway south from Young High Pike.

The purpose of the C-G General Commercial Zoning District is “to provide for a heterogeneous mix of retail, personal services, office and residential uses…” and is intended to promote mixed-use development in a pedestrian oriented development.

Basically, the recommended change is to remove the build-to-percentages and build-to-zones for this area. The current standards require new buildings to be built closer to the road - like the new Fast Pace Health location (across from Checkers). Having buildings closer to the road makes the area more walkable.

Come learn more and give feedback at a community meeting on May 25th, 5 - 6:30 pm at 71 South (in Baker Creek Bottoms).
