1. City Seeks Input to Develop Its Five-Year Consolidated Plan
The City of Knoxville is seeking public input to develop its Five-Year Consolidated Plan and will host a public meeting today, Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 6 p.m. at the City’s Public Works Service Center, 3131 Morris Ave.
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback on draft funding priorities. This event is open to all. If you are unable to attend, your feedback is still welcome.
The 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan will set funding priorities for an expected $15M+ (over five years) of U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant, HOME Investment Partnerships, and Emergency Solutions Grant dollars
for affordable housing, homelessness, economic development, and other community development activities. The Plan is due to HUD on May 15.

3. Planning Holds ‘One Year Plan’ Public Meetings
Knoxville
Knox County Planning will be hosting two public meetings and all are encouraged to participate.
Both meetings will be virtual and will give community members the opportunity to review the plan, ask questions, and discuss proposed changes. Each meeting will begin with an overview of the One Year Plan, followed by an explanation of the proposed change and
an open discussion.

One Year Plan serves as the foundation for zoning decisions and is based on the land-use goals, objectives, and policies found in the comprehensive plans. The sole change to the One Year Plan proposed by staff this year is the removal of the duplex location

4. Save the Date – KPD Hosts Community Forum for West District
The
Knoxville Police Department (KPD) will host a West District Community Forum on Tuesday, Mar. 11, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Public Works Building, 3131 Morris Ave.
KPD’s West District is the largest of the city’s three police districts, covering approximately 49.5 square miles. This district includes major thoroughfares such as I-40, Western Ave., Kingston Pike, Pellissippi Parkway, Clinton Hwy., and parts of Alcoa Hwy.
West Town Mall also falls within the West District boundaries.

5. Cherokee Health Systems Hosts TennCare Enrollment Event
Cherokee
Health Systems is hosting the 2025 TennCare Enrollment on Saturday, Feb. 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at their location at 2018 Western Ave.
TennCare
is the state of Tennessee's Medicaid program. It provides healthcare to pregnant women, parents or caretakers of a minor child, children, and individuals who are elderly or have a disability. To get Medicaid, you must meet minimum requirements and anyone at
any time can apply for TennCare.
Walk-ins are welcome. Attendees should bring Social Security numbers for all household members and proof of household income.

6. Complete the Community Health Assessment Survey
The Knox County Health Department (KCHD) encourages all residents to complete the
Community Health Assessment (CHA) Survey, open now through Wednesday, Feb. 5.
This quick 10-15 minute survey aims to gather community input on health priorities in Knox County. The KCHD will use the results of this survey and other data sources to identify the most pressing health needs in the community. Your response will help KCHD and
its partners focus efforts on improving health and wellness in Knox County and address areas where action is most needed.

9. Lunar New Year Is on Jan. 29
Lunar New Year, observed on Wednesday, Jan. 29, follows lunar and lunisolar calendars. Lunar New Year is celebrated around the globe, primarily in Asia and the Middle East. Celebrations vary widely across cultures.
