Greeting neighbors,
I want to draw attention to an item in this week’s Neighborly Notice (see below). The process for voting for city council, mayor and other city offices will change next year.
This an excellent opportunity to learn more about the charter amendments and an opportunity to ask questions.
When you go to vote, the poll workers will not answer questions about these amendments. The standard response will be ’The ballot speaks for itself’
Come learn so you can make an informed vote in November.

6. Vice Mayor Hosts Public Forum
Vice Mayor and First District City Council member Tommy Smith will host a public meeting on Monday, Sept. 30, at the Round Up Restaurant and Ice Cream, 3643 Sevierville Pike.
This meeting will be a public discussion about the two charter amendments on the ballot for the Nov. 5, election. Guests can RSVP and share the event on Facebook.
Due to a new state law, City voters are faced with a choice to change the election process of City Council representatives. Visit the Knox County Election Commission’s website to see a sample ballot and read the full text of the two charter amendments.
