1. Thank a KPD Officer
Did you know that the City has a way for you to formally thank a Knoxville Police Department (KPD) officer?
Did an officer attend your meeting and help with a situation in your neighborhood? Did you receive exemplary assistance from an officer after a traffic accident? Did an officer assist you in the community? Did someone from KPD provide you with a helpful resource?
If you have had a good experience with an officer in 2024, KPD would like to hear about it. Fill out this
form on the City’s website to brighten someone’s day.
KPD officers have to deal with very difficult situations, sometimes life or death, and a “thank you” from a community member can make a huge difference in an officer’s day.

3. KFD Celebrates Night on the Square
Come and join the
Knoxville Fire Department (KFD) for a ‘Night on the Square’ Friday, Oct. 11, from 5:30–8 p.m. downtown in Market Square.
Bring the family and help kick off
Fire Prevention Week with this annual event. There will be fire trucks, a kids' maze, the iconic Fire Safety House, community
CPR, and tons more.
From the
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), this year's 2024 theme is ‘Smoke Alarms: Make Them Work for You!’ This annual campaign is aimed at raising awareness about fire safety and educating communities throughout on important and potentially life-saving
fire prevention strategies.
Smoke alarms are one of the most critical tools for protecting your home, your family members, and your pets from the devastating effects of fire. According to the NFPA, having properly functioning smoke alarms reduces the risk of dying in a house fire by more
than half.
Many homes, however, lack the number of smoke alarms that are needed to protect the property and all of its occupants or the smoke alarms that do exist aren’t functional due to missing or dead batteries or the age of the device. To learn more about the importance
of having fully functional smoke alarms throughout your residence, visit the NPFA
website. |
