My son took his mail inside this morning because about a year ago a few family members had their mail stolen from the outside Blue box.  Today he noticed the box near the road was gone and the big box near the building had its door opened.  So he asked what was going on.

Seems both boxes continue to be broken into, so there is a plan that there will no longer be outside boxes for mall.  Everything will have to be taken inside.

That is happening all over town!!   My book club in Farragut said it was the same for their post office!

Not only are people stealing our mail and all that it contains, but they are steal the benfit of drop off mail boxes for all of us.  Remember, if you see something, say something.

That makes me smile, but I think it is people stealing the envelopes to get credit card numbers and bank account numbers off checks.  Our family’s first experience is when someone stole a check and changed the number to a much larger amount and cashed the check in a foreign account,  And it made her other payments bounce.  The bank made things right, but it was a lot of trouble and she had to change bank accounts.  Bank said it happened all the time.  And post office changed to that big box, thinking no one could reach inside, but seems they were able to open the door where the envelopes are collected.  Seems to be happening at other locations, too.  Must be a real racket.

I've always been told to take mail inside and drop it off rather than use the blue boxes outside. 

It's slightly inconvenient, but safer.
