1.  Belle Morris Neighbors Host Successful Cookie Walk

Congrats to Belle Morris Neighborhood - Knoxville on their successful Cookie Walk on June 30, during which neighbors shared laughs and sweet treats.

It was a pleasure to witness the new connections made at this event, from some neighbors who had previously struggled to connect with each other. This event helped overcome the barrier to connection that accompanies many folks who live on streets without sidewalks, by hosting treats along the streets within the neighborhood that experience less traffic/have sidewalks.

Gatherings like this remind us that joy is not separate from resilience; the good times neighbors share are often the very roots of the relationships they lean on when harder times come. Thank you, Belle Morris Neighbors for sharing this example of community building. If your neighborhood is trying out a new activity, we would love to hear about it!
2.  Registration Now Open for Neighborhood Resource Fair

Get ready! Registration for the Annual Neighborhood Resource Fair opens today, Tuesday, July 14. The event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 29 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the World's Fair Exhibition Hall.

This is a community-focused event designed to connect individuals and families with valuable resources and services. Attendees can receive free food bags from Second Harvest, pick up vouchers for free concession stand combo meals (while supplies last), safely dispose of expired or unused medications, meet with City department staff, and so much more. With a variety of local organizations and resources available, there's something for everyone to enjoy and benefit from.

The resource fair is free to attend but registration is required for all visitors. Guests who preregister receive additional door prize tickets.  Attendees who wait to register on the day of the event can still participate, but they'll receive fewer door prize tickets.  Some of the door prizes include a Keurig coffeemaker, kid's tablet, or a digital picture frame!

Watch the Office of Neighborhood Empowerment’s website and Facebook page for event updates. We can't wait to see you at the Neighborhood Resource Fair! For questions, please contact Kristen Moran at 865-215-3232 or email kmo...@knoxvilletn.gov.
3.  Save The Date: Wiffleball Coming This Fall

The Neighborhood Wiffleball Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 31, from 9-12. Yes, that is Halloween!

This would be a great time to bring costumes to the tournament. Your team could be themed, all wearing dinosaur costumes, or you could all be characters from The Addams Family with safety vests, or you could all be a different version of the same character.

Let’s have fun with this! Start organizing your teams and start thinking of what costume you would like to wear. We look forward to an energetic, creative, and fun tournament.
