1.  Today is Election Day
 
The 2022 midterm elections end today, and it is not too late to cast your vote, Knoxville!
 
Polls are open today from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.  Voting on Election Day looks a little different from early voting, and it is important to note the difference. Today, you must go to your precinct in order to vote.
 
It is also important to make sure that you are registered to vote, that you bring a Tennessee-issued photo ID with you to the polling location, and that you know what you will be voting for on the ballot.
 
Check out the Knox County Election Commission website to verify your polling location, to view a sample ballot, to verify that you are registered to vote, and to learn other important information about voting in Knoxville!

2. Last Neighborhood Safety Meeting Focuses on North Neighborhoods
 
The final in a series of meetings focusing on neighborhood safety and awareness practices will be held in North Knoxville on Thursday, Nov. 17, from 6-8 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 5409 Jacksboro Pike.
 
Residents of City Council Districts 4 and 5 are invited to learn about the types of crime happening in their neighborhoods and best practices for community safety, crime prevention and safety awareness. If you have questions you would like to be answered at the upcoming meeting, please send them to neighb...@knoxvilletn.gov.
 
This will be the final meeting of the series. Meetings focused on East, West, and South Knoxville have already occurred this year.

3.  The Board of Zoning Appeals Meets Next Tuesday
 
The Board of Zoning Appeals will meet next Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 4 p.m. in the Small Assembly Room of the City County Building, 400 Main St.
 
The Board will hear several variance requests: 5910 Holston Hills Rd., 414 Jomandowa Dr., 124 S. Concord St., 701 Merchant St., and 3928 West Bellemeade Ave.
 
The Board will also have a discussion regarding a recommendation to the City Council concerning the appeal deadline for interpretations by the Zoning Administrator.

4.  Trees Knoxville Hosts Tree Walk In North Hills
 
Trees Knoxville will host its December Tree Walk on Thursday, Dec. 8, from 4:30-5:30 through the North Hills Neighborhood Arboretum. 
 
For anyone wishing to join the walk, you can meet at North Hills Park at 2451 Kennington Rd.  Parking is available along Kennington Rd and Kenilworth Ln. 
 
At this month’s walk, you can play tree trivia with Kasey Krouse, the City’s Urban Forester. The winner will get a prize. All are welcome to join!
5.  Crime Doesn’t Pay; Crime Stoppers Does
 
East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)3 volunteer organization funded by tax-deductible donations from businesses, clubs, associations, and individuals. The program enables residents to report individuals who are known or suspected of committing criminal acts in our community. And this reporting can be done absolutely anonymously.
 
When you call in a tip that leads to an arrest or recovery of stolen property, you can become eligible for a cash reward.
 
Crime Stoppers reports crimes and suspects on its website and social media channels. Crime Stoppers cases are featured in the news, on television, on the radio and via the P3 TIPS app.
 
If you have information about a crime, call the anonymous tip line at 865-215-7165.
 
The East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers Program began accepting tips on May 5, 2021. The partnership was the fruition of efforts of the Knoxville City Council, Mayor Kincannon's office, along with Chief Eve Thomas and the Knoxville Police Department.
 
More than 1,000 Crime Stopper programs operate worldwide.
6.  Tour De Lights Rides Again Dec. 10 in South Knoxville
 
The annual festive bike ride Tour de Lights returns on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 5:30 p.m., starting at Suttree Landing Park and ending in Market Square.
 
Tour de Lights is a fun, free, family-friendly holiday bike ride presented by Visit Knoxville and Bike Walk Knoxville. Participants are encouraged to get in the holiday spirit by decorating themselves and their bikes. The event engages neighborhoods and businesses, along with others who come out to view the festivities.
 
What a fun way celebrate the season with everyone!
 
7.  All4Knox Organizes Housing Summit
 
Landlords, potential landlords, developers, funders, non-profits and faith-based institutions interested in building and/or supporting affordable and workforce housing are invited to a Housing Summit hosted by All 4 Knox, a joint City of Knoxville and Knox County initiative.   
 
The event is Friday, Nov. 18, 5-9 p.m. at the Sarah Simpson Center, 801 Tipton Ave. The theme is Values-Based Investing in Housing; Making Money and Making a Difference.
 
Participants and presenters will include representatives of the Knoxville Knox County Homeless Coalition, Knox County Grants and Community Development, as well as the City’s Housing and Neighborhood Development and Office on Homelessness.
