Brilliant work Arshi Krishna and team !

Next Sunday, 14th July, we will be rolling out near old Andra bank area. That is on the road of Niveditha's home. Request volunteers to confirm their time from 7 am to 12 noon. Breakfast at Adigas will be sponsored by Mindtree. Area to be covered is BET convent & Gattigare.

Pl send in confirmation for participation to 9886086979, my mobile.
Good news is the PK Periya in this area is already trained & she has done brilliant work in 5th stage earlier. Shankar, the supervisor is also trained & will join that morning. He will prepare the area layout plan & share with us, so that we can cover it in one shot.

Regards,
Veena.

It gives me immense pleasure to share with you all, we have gone miles ahead in bringing  the awareness  about waste management and segregation at source. In the process last Sunday we have given the demo and presentation at Rushab apartment where in well called all the house wives and maid servants and shared the best practices about the waste management . This was overwhelming response with almost 27 residents participated Kindly glance through the link and down load the images. This link will be active only for 7 day within that you need  to download in the system otherwise automatically the link goes  off.

This would not have been successful without the support of Mrs. Smitha Kamath who is an allrounder  and tech savy. Malathi and niveditha came with handful grass  patch which speaks of  greenery and mrs. Vani vaidyanathan who is our  guiding force kudos!! Praveen you are always there for the social cuase!!

image.jpegHere is an update from the waste mgmt team.

1. We had a dozen volunteers join us this morning at 7 am. 5 were students from NHVPS. Srinivas, Prasad, Niveditha, Sai were the key people from iCare. We covered the BET convent area and village gram panchayat zone. Totally 220 homes in all. Residents were trained on segregation, bags for dry waste storage were distributed free in the village area. This is our first attempt in a gram panchayat locality & the response was very good. Attached is the photo of a well where garbage is dumped recklessly in this village area, just 2 roads away from BET convent. We want to have this completely stopped and started the awareness towards this there.

2. Awareness session at double road apt, 200 homes, Subodaya silver springs, thanks to Prasad Hassan for organising this over 2 Sundays. I did the session on segregation on 7th & Dr. Manoj educated them on composting yday. They have ordered 2 compost bins as well & should start mass composting in 2 weeks time.

3. Two bags of dry waste from Arshi/Vani's area came in. Good start. Mahesh came to the shed specifically to show this.

4. Ajantha Grand is planning for restarting segregation & should align in a week or so.

5. To manage the affairs of the shed, have it functioning on all days of the week, rather than only Sundays, we have employed a couple from Hasiru Dala (Smitha, these are from Mahalakshmi's side). This will relieve a lot of bandwidth for my dad who was single handedly managing the shed, coordination with BBMP, BVG, ITC etc.

Regards,
Veena.

Hi Arshi and Murugan,

The recent PK strike over the last 2 days has caused a set up. Each time this happens, people lose faith in us and say "how long can we hold on to segregated garbage". Frustration sets in and then dumping outside becomes rampant. It is a doubled edged sword. We need to push the system as well as convince people to segregate and manage waste locally.

RR Nagar is a huge ward. In fact it is the largest ward of Blore in terms of area and not so much in population density. Today where ever SWM roll outs have happened, it is with the help of people who live in that area. We can go and create awareness sessions at homes and at apartments but sustaining that should be owned by people living there. So, lets sustain in the areas where we have started and continue to spread to more homes and apartments.
WIll call you Murugan to see what we can do in your area.

Regards,
Veena.

Dear Veena,

Thanks  for the appreciation!! Better late than Never !!  Some people realize /understand and implement  until it is  enforced !! .(its me NowJ) Off course no doubt the motivation is  you  and currently that Mr. Mahesh from BVG !!. Infact I have already looped 2 more apartments Rushab apartment and one  more!  we rolled out the basic segregation  method which is 1st level.

The next course should be we should invite  at least 5 apartments minimum  and their maid servants together  along with BBMP and BVG team to  driver further .

To start with each apartment we should  display through notice board about segregation at source .

We have to assign the responsibility to a person preferably treasurer or joint secretary of that apartment to monitor the activity for a month with strict vigilance then automatically people will get disciplined. We need to complete this  exercise of targeting the  apartment in next 2 months  to 3 months max.

For individual houses we need  to chart a  different strategy bring them to main stream which should be our 2nd course of action .

We started following the BBMP Vehicle door to door near our locality and making sure the same is separated at source.  Even Mr. Mahesh  accompanied us .

First I requested my company to support us and we give caps and T-shirt as  saying GO-Green and it was  quite unique and got caught up !! we have to keep  the momentum on . All resident friends needs come forward and support .

Best Regards

Subject: Re: Roll out of SWM on 14th July

Veena, there is a place called ' boat club' opposite best club office in BEML layout. In one corner abutting sixty feet road hundreds of residents throw garbage in plastic covers. It is not only a shame for RR Nagar, but also acts as a breeding ground for dengue. Please do something to educate d people of d area n also a regular arrangement for collection of garbage from homes.

Wow Veena! Awesome move keeping the dry waste shed work thru the week. Would they be doing next level segregation as well to get market price?

If HD team works out well it may become possible to think about large scale wet waste composting and consumption within the locality and aim for zero waste going out of ward to landfill as dreamt by WUCU team and your team!?

Hi Vishwanath,

I have seen the place. The lethal combination of irregular services for garbage clearance plus too much open space ( our people love empty sites, lakes & wells/ponds for dumping) is the main cause. The area supervisor is Nagesh. We can have him & Mohan come there & check how to take awareness forward.

Presently, the next roll out is planned at Gattigere, then people near Corporator's house have been waiting for us to address them. So, we will plan boat house site subsequently. Request you to rope in some volunteers living in that area.

Regards,
Veena.
