The state govt on Thursday introduced the Karnataka Municipal Corporations (Amendment) Bill 2013, to

Penalize people who don't segregate waste and those who litter, spit, urinate or defecate in the open.

For not segregating waste

First time fine Rs.100 and Rs.500 for repeating.

Dumping building waste

First time fine Rs.1000 and Rs.5000 for repeating.

Also persons caught five times for failing to segregate dry and wet waste at home will be punished with a jail term upto 3 months or a fine of Rs.1000 or both.

Hope the bill is effective to bring some change in our city!!
