Your friendly chapter lead here, happy to invite you to our first event since this summer's conference ⬇️ 

WHERE: 11th Street Bar, 510 East 11th Street between Aves A & B 🍻 Find us in the back room! 

WHEN: Tuesday, November 19, 6pm-8pm 🍂

WHAT: Grab a drink, meet and reconnect with colleagues, and ....🥁 drumroll 🥁 ...listen to (or participate in) a new live series I'd like to try: 

• Did you write/edit/produce a story that published in the past few months you're particularly proud of? Want to share with your colleagues how the story came to be? What challenges did you overcome? What advice do you have for others in AHCJ pursuing a similar project? ✍️

• I'd like to select 3-4 members to take the mic for about 10-15 minutes each during the happy hour, a sort of live version of AHCJ's "How I Did It" series. This will be casual and interactive (and off the record), but will give a little structure and inspiration to an otherwise regular ol' happy hour. (For what it's worth, I've been to a few other writer meetups at this bar that follow a similar format, so there's some precedent that this works!) 🧠

• If you'd like to talk about one of your relatively recent pieces, please reply directly to me with a link to the piece and a few sentences about why you think your fellow health journalists would be interested in what it took to bring to life. It's a great opportunity to get your face and voice out in front of other writers and editors, and bring more attention to your fine work. 🎤

OTHER DETAILS: AHCJ will provide some snacks and cover the speakers' first drink; everyone else will need to pay for their own. If you think you'll just have one, I recommend cash to keep it easy on the bartenders. They're not charging us to reserve the space, so let's treat them well!  🧀🍷
