Hi Swingin' from the Hearters-
Please let me know by Friday 8/21 if you would be interested in dancing to live music from the 1940s and making some folks very happy. All levels of experience welcome.
The Activities Director at Hammond Glen, a senior community in Sandy Springs, has contacted us about dancing there on Wednesday, September 9th at 7:30pm. The facility is having a 1940's Big Band Dance Party, and the Atlanta Swing Band willl be performing and they are hoping to give their party the feel of the Stork Club during the '40's. The Activities Director says their residents love to dance but most are no longer able to, but would enjoy watching 1940's style dances performed.
Please let me know if you're interested. We could use enthusiastic swing (6-count/"east coast", lindyhop, charleston, balboa) dancers at any level of experience. I'll need commitments from at least 4 follows and 4 leads by the end of next week (by Friday 8/21) to be able to tell the facility we can do it. Once we've got a group together, I or the other coordinator can send more details.
I also need someone to serve as the coordinator for this event after August 29 since I will be out of town. I can get you up to speed, help with recruiting dancers and communicate with the facility about their needs up until August 29, then would turn it over to you.
