"Gig Alert"...............
Where: Centre Stage, Bournemouth
When: Saturday 19th September
Start: 6.30 pm (for those wishing to take part in the free dance tuition) and 7.30 pm (performance) – finishes 10.30 pm
Caribbean Evening featuring Chief Nana Kofi and our own SUBBzero.
A Caribbean Evening would not be complete without Caribbean food.
Therefore, food will be provided including “Jerk Chicken”, Goat Curry and a Vegetarian option all with rice ‘n peas (included in the ticket price).
SUBBzero will be performing their own style of “reggae jazz”. If you have heard them before, you will know what a great band they are with their infectious music. SUBBzero have recently completed their first album entitled “Zero Resistance”. Zero Resistance is the name of a track, in the album, composed by Toby Nelmes. Toby plays piano in SUBBzero and his composition has been forwarded to the BBC’s “Composer of the Year” competition.
Chief Nana Kofi (Kofi to his friends) is Jamaican and has spent most of his life teaching African/Caribbean drumming and dancing. Kofi tours round the country and abroad to carry out “workshops” in his style of drumming and dancing. His drums are hand made in Ghana. Kofi will be performing with his own drum and dance ensemble.
Starting one hour before the performance, Kofi will provide a free one hour “Les Ballet Africains” dance lesson to any who wishes to take part. A great way to keep fit and “drum up” an appetite!
Tickets: £12.50 (£9.50 for SUBB Group Patrons and SUBB Group members). Tickets are available from Peter Williams on 07734483419 or send cheque (together with stamped addressed envelope) to: 12a Beresford Road, Bournemouth. Space is limited, so book early. Large free car park opposite the venue. Bar available.
