below is an email from Oxfam SouthWest with a request for action re EPAs- agreements EU countries make with poor countries on trade. The EPAs are being negotiated, and not in favour of the poor countries. Proper info below or in the links.

Hi ,

I am writing to you because I know that you are concerned with Trade
Justice and Fairtrade issues. There are two simple but important and
urgent
actions below that will make a real difference. Please do join in and
lets
make the powerful listen and act

Urgent actions needed for Trade Justice

Currently, 76 of the world’s poorest countries are under pressure to
sign
free trade agreements, ‘Economic Partnership Agreements’ (EPA’S)
with
Europe.

Poor countries are facing threats of tariff increases if an agreement
is
not in place with by 31 December 2007. An urgent change in approach is
required to create trade agreements between Europe and poor countries
that
work for development

UK Parliamentarians could play a key role in providing much needed
debate
on the potential impacts of Europe’s unfair trade deals to 76
African,
Caribbean and Pacific countries (ACP) before the current deadline of
January 1 2008. All MPs have been mailed by the Trade Justice Movement
raising these concerns but it is vital that they hear from
constituents.
