I was watching either a YouTube video or reading a blog post about soldering wires onto PCBs, possibly a quadcopter power distribution board. After soldering, the guy got out something called liquid electrical tape and gobbed some over the solder joints to reinforce them. Brilliant I thought! Why have I never head of this stuff before? I usually use the hot glue gun for things like that, but somehow this looked better and neater.
Thanks. Yeah it is quite powerful, I can smell it for a while after because it takes a few hours to really set solid. Though you can add the second coat after about an hour.

Nice post! Is the solver smell super bad (like, room stinks for hours bad)?--

Depends how much you like the smell of solvent really. I don't mind it so it doesn't bother me.
The stuff is also quite good
for making up header cables. I.e. solder some wires onto some
standard header pins then create a plastic "case" over the back to firm up
the connection and prevent shorts. An alternative to crimping.
Yes, I've just an adapter for my avr programmer to the standard 6pin header since it has some silly custom 5pin header and I used the black goo for one end of that. Its turned out okay.
Ah, no, I didn't use it for
that end, but it may work. I super glued two 3pin crimp plugs
together that I'd reclaimed from some other stuff (so the pins were already
crimped and I didn't have to do them). I used the liquid tape at the
other end to sure up the connection into a 5pin round header so it just
works as an adapter cable (I still have some boards that I'd need to use
the 5pin programmer plug with as well. ) So like this:
Also its good for when you jury
rig wires into existing circuits like this:
Not my neatest work! And I
havent yet confirmed if it works, but if it doesn't it will be my dodgy
soldering and not down to the liquid tape :-)

Yes, I was thinking there might
be something worth salvaging in that box of computer cables and fans in the
metal cupboard at hackspace. Like an old back plate for a serial port,
didn't they have 6 or 8 pin connectors on the end that went into the
motherboard.
