Wierd pump problems. In Sept. 2011 my Polaris booster pump stopped
working, so I purchased a new one and had it replaced. I ran the
filter pump and polaris and all worked fine, until the next day. The
Filter pump stopped working. After working with several tech and
store supply places, I replaced the capacitor and it resolved the
filter pump problem. Installed the capactior, ran it for a few hours,
turned on the (New) Polaris pump and it is NOT working. The pump
sounds like it is working, but no water is coming out. Please help!!!!

Option 1: If it sounds like it may be working, then i may be the
Polaris seal went bad and the impellor spun off of the shaft. This can
happen if the polaris pump is running for an extended period of time
and the filter pump is not. The Polaris pump needs water supplied to
it from the filter pump for it to work properly.

Option 2: If there's a valve between the inlet of the Polaris pump or
a valve on the return side of the Polaris pump which may be closed,
this may explain why you don't see any water coming out.

Thanks for your suggestions. We turned on the filter pool and
disconnected the polaris hose that is coming into the booster pump and
at first water will be coming out of this hose (for about 1 min.) then
it stops. The hose from there to the polaris has nothing going to it.
Hope that is not too confusing. Basically, when the filter pump is on
the hose going to the booster pump gets water for about a minute, then
stops. When turning on the booster pump nothing comes out of the
hose. It just bubbles up a bit. We are planning to clean the filter
and start again from square one. Please help with any other
suggestions. It is a new capacitor for the filter pump and a new
booster Polaris pump.

It may help to have some pics of the filter system. Feel free to email them to me or post online somewhere.

It appears the water supply for the filter pump it not working
properly. We turn on the filter pump and run it for about 1 hour,
then turn on the Polaris booster pump and the booster pump hums like
it is on, but no water goes through the line. We have added water
through the booster pump line and have to put our hands over the holes
were the pool is filtering and finally the booster pump with kick on.
This has been the way we have had to start the Polaris for the last
few days. It appears for filter pump is not supplying a good water
supply. Why and what can we do to fix this???? Thanks
